What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic modality born from Osteopathy. CST helps the whole biodynamic human release structural and fascial restrictions, as well as energetic and emotional holding patterns. This eases strain and pressure on the delicate central nervous system, improving its function.
Many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more may also be improved. CST helps find a better place of balance and harmony with every treatment session, allowing for deep relaxation, self-healing, and recovery. I often refer to the central nervous system (CNS) as the bus driver. It is continually assessing not only the outer world but our internal world, making adjustments to maintain homeostasis. When the CNS is struggling, we struggle. I consider myself a facilitator as the human body has innate self healing wisdom, my job as a CranioSacral Therapist is to support these mechanisms. Conditions I have helped individuals move to a new level of health with include:
headaches/migraines,
post concussion recovery,
chronic neck and back pain,
all types of athletic injury,
preparation and recovery from surgery,
sympathetic nervous system over activation associated with chronic illness and chronic pain,
support through tongue tie revision and myofunctional therapy,
somatic presencing and support for those in counseling for mental health challenges or self development.
What Does a CranioSacral Session Look Like?
During a session, you lie clothed on a comfortable massage table. The CranioSacral Therapist utilizes highly developed palpation skills to assess and treat restrictions and dysfunctions in the CranioSacral System. This system is comprised of the fascial membranes (aka meninges), cerebrospinal fluid, cranium, and sacrum, which surround the brain and spinal cord.
Meet the CranioSacral Therapist
Hi, I’m Lori Ann Glass. With more than 30 years of education and experience, my focus is on you . . . the client.
As a CranioSacral Therapist, my role is to facilitate, educate, support, and provide guidance for your healing journey. I have studied and applied CranioSacral Therapy for a decade in my soft tissue injury rehab practice as a massage therapist and athletic trainer. CranioSacral Therapy has become my primary modality, as it has proven itself time and again to be an extraordinary modality that allows the body to unwind, realign, and provide clients with something they did not know they needed. I continue to utilize advanced orthopedic massage therapy techniques when applicable to support a client’s journey. To ensure we are aligned with the direction you desire for your session, I utilize a thorough intake process. Lastly, I collaborate with many providers in the southwest region, as sometimes the appropriate care requires a multifaceted approach, to reclaim your health and wellness.
